Nigerian Association of Arts and Social Science Education Students, Obafemi Awolowo University Chapter has awarded our President, Rtn Olu Olujide Ph.D, FCIA, MNIM an AWARD OF MERIT for his immense contribution, support and charity towards human and community development in Nigeria.
The Award was presented at the 2nd Ife Arts and Social Science Education Students’ Annual Summit tagged THE DRIVERS, ENABLERS AND OBSTACLES TO NIGERIA EDU-BUSINESS. It was held at ICT Conference Hall, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State. Other awardees at the Summit were His Excellency, Mr Benedict Olugboyega Alabi (Deputy Governor, State of Osun) who was also the Special Guest of Honour at the event, was represented by Mr Yinka Omiyale (a senior special assistant to the Deputy Governor), and Mrs Folasade Adefisayo (Honourable Commissioner for Education, Lagos State) who was also the Keynote Speaker I at the event was represented by Mr Akin Alamu (a senior consultant and veteran educationist)
Dr Olujide, who was equally the second Keynote speaker, discussed a topic on EDU-BUSINESS IN NIGERIA : STARTING SMARTLY. In his presentation, he made it known to the participants with empirical studies that Edu-business is a virgin land of which the market is elastic, and the sector has positive correlation with economic development. He recommended entrepreneurial skill development for private school owners in Nigeria, as more of creative initiatives are required to make the sector performs excellently. He enjoined governments and other stakeholders in education sector to make Nigeria a knowledge driven society.
He further stated that Government needs to invest more in the sector, makes education policies to be more friendly devoid of corrupt practices, ensures education budgetary allocation meets UNESCO recommendation, and provides special credit support and periodic capacity building for private owned schools in Nigeria. He concluded that any interested persons in edu-business should imbibe entrepreneurial mindset not business mindset.
